Attingal, which is situated in north part of Thiruvananthapuram District, easily known as Chittattinkara, was declared as the Town Imporvement Committee in 1942 and eventually became a Municipality.  The historically famous “Attingal Riot”  is an unavoidable milestone in the freedom struggle.  It was also an area that belonged to the legacy of sovereign of Travancore. 
Attingal, with the area of 16.27 sq. kilometre along with a permanent population of 38,000, is a satellite town of Thiruvananthapuram smart city.  Attingal Municipality has its own concept about the cleanliness  and Waste Management System. “ Attingal Model waste Management” is a famous phrase in Kerala now.  Attingal Municipality has one award for The Best Municipality from Kerala State Pollution Control Board for the continuous past 14 years.
